It might be because people won’t forget the scare, but forget advice since it is cheap. It is close to saying failure is a better teacher than success.
People also tend to learn by experience. Depending on how “advice” is given it can either be seen as just “advice” or as someone telling someone what to do. A lot of people do not react well to being told what to do and reject those they believe might be trying to control them.
Fear is also a primal emotion with a biochemical and emotional element.
Very true. Fear of faliure is a great motivator.
