Sister Joan Chittister

“I’m opposed to abortion. But I do not believe that just because you’re opposed to abortion that that makes you pro-life. In fact, I think in many cases, your morality is deeply lacking. If all you want is a child born but not a child fed, not a child educated, not a child housed and why would I think that you don’t? Because you don’t want any tax money to go there. That’s not pro-life. That’s pro-birth. We need a much broader conversation on what the morality of pro-life is.”  Sister Joan Chittister

      1. Roseylinn, we had interesting thing happen at one of our Catholic High Schools last week. A nun came in to speak to an assembly and proceeded to offend many in the audience with a doctrine around you are not born gay/ lesbian, abortion, contraception, etc. Many kids wanted to leave, but could not. The parents met yesterday with the leadership – over 1,000 parents showed up and told the school that they need to be more careful who they bring in to speak. Their children took the most offense at treating gays/ lesbians as sinners and not people. It apparently was a pretty heated discussion. BTG

        1. I’m sure it was a heated discussion. The school should have researched the speaker. At the same time it is also a learning experience for the kids, the parents, and the school.

            1. I did a quick search and there are two petitions going around due to a nuns recent visit to a catholic school; one against and one in support. Hopefully the school will use it as a teaching moment.
