Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr

“plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose”.  Translated:  “the more it changes, the more it’s the same thing.”  Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr.

The epigram appeared in the January 1849 issue of his journal Les Guêpes (“The Wasps”).

Another more familiar translation is the proverb “the more things change, the more they stay the same.”
