The other day I ran into an interesting math question on a website. Here is the question:
A bat and a ball cost $1.10 in total. The bat costs $1 more than the ball. How much does the ball cost?
The correct answer is at the bottom of this post.
The answer is: 5 cents. Here is the math:
x = Cost of the Ball
x + 1 =Cost of the Bat
1.10 = Total Cost
x + (x+1) = 1.10
2x+1 = 1.10
2x = .10
x = .05
