March 9 Democratic Debate

Univision hosted a Democratic Debate on 3/9/2016.  The video can be seen here:

Some of the best moments from the debate:

The worst lines of the night:

There is also a picture circulating that shows Hillary Clinton during a break at the debate with her staff.  The rules of the debate prohibit candidates from communicating with their staff during the debate:

The response from the Clinton Campaign was that they weren’t aware of the picture:

The only other candidate who did something similar was Donald Trump in the March 3 GOP debate.  His manager joined him on stage and when he wouldn’t leave Fox News apparently told the other candidates they too could talk with staff.

Another debate related picture making rounds on social media is the question about what color Sen. Bernie Sanders suit was.  Apparently depending on how the light hit the suit people either saw brown or black.

Bernie Sanders also received a standing ovation over his closing remarks:

Transcript of his closing remarks are below:

“This has been a wonderful debate, but time being limited, some of the most important issues facing our country have not been asked. And that is, is it acceptable that in America the top 0.1 percent now owns almost as much wealth as the bottom 90 percent. Is it acceptable that while the average American works longer hours for lower wages, 58 percent of all new income is going to the top 1 percent.

Is it acceptable that Wall Street and billionaires are spending hundreds of millions of dollars trying to buy elections? Is that democracy or this that oligarchy? Which is why I believe we’ve got to overturn Citizens United and move to public funding of elections.

Is it right that in the greatest, wealthiest country in the history of the world, so many of our young people can’t even afford to go to college or leave school deeply in debt, in the wealthiest country in the history of the world? If we stand up, fight back, we can do a lot better. That’s why I’m running for president.”
