Review:

The movie is similar to the first one. The same aliens that we defeated in the first one show up. Our current defenses are over-powered. A retaliatory strike is made. It doesn’t go well. There is a moment of panic. The aliens eliminate most if not all of the current leaders of the planet. Somewhere in there a discovery is made that provides knowledge and hope about defeating the aliens. A new president is sworn in. A last ditch effort to destroy the aliens happens. It works to a point and sets the stage for the absolute final showdown between the good guys and the bad guys. And they had to steal alien ships in order to get the job done. In the last scene the survivors comment about what happened. It also sets up a possible third movie.

The movie moves from one action scene to the next. It slows down long enough to show some interactions between characters, show some motivations, fill in some details, and to let the audience catch their breath. Then it is right back to the action. There were some humorous moments and lines in the movie. The good guys win despite the serious odds against them. I did find myself asking, “why didn’t they…” too much.
